Question by beatle1909: I just realized, How are we going to finance our next War?
You know its coming. Will President Stern have to go to China again, like many of us go to our parents/banks for loans. And what if we opt to go to War over Taiwan? Will Mainland China still buy our debt, or will they only finance our next War with Canada(third time’s the charm, maybe this time we can take Toronto).

Question by Mundane: When you work in either the Economics or Finance industry, do you still use their terminology in the industry?
I know there are still some terms that will definitely be used if you work in the industry but I don’t suppose deeper terminology such as something variable… that seems a bit technical. Will “deeper” terminology be still applied in the industry?
Just curious for those who are working in the Economics and Finance industry.
Best answer:
Answer by SDD
Of course. Every industry has terminology that is specific to that industry. To take an example, in the financial industry a million dollars is usually represented as $ 1MM, but if you read the newspapers they will usually refer to it as $ 1M — which the financial industry would read as one thousand dollars.

Question by Seekness: I have computer science degree but work in finance right now. What should I do to switch over to IT?
i have a bachelor from good four year college. However after graduation I decided to get in finance rather than IT. I never pursued IT career as I didn’t like programming much. I am considering starting a career in IT…possibly networking. I pretty forgot everything I learned at school. Any advice about the steps I should take? IE…training/certification course. Also what are some of the career options available? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should stick with what you have going, in my opinion. You would, as you say, be starting all over from square one if you try to go for IT certification. Everything has changed in IT since you last took classes. It won’t be any different this time around – you still won’t like programming. It’s even more complex now.

Question by Lola: I want to finance my first car, what do finance companies look for when deciding to approve a loan?
I have always paid cash for cars before, and now I want, rather need to finance a car. What do finance companies look for in your credit in deciding if you are a worthy lender and how much interest to charge? It’s my fiance and I, and we both have great jobs, but have never financed a car before.

Your credit score determines which interest rate bracket you fall into and whether you are eligible for other special financing offers. They may also look at your income, but pretty much they go straight off your credit score.

Question by : Can auto sales contracts become null and void if in house dealerships sells to finance companies?
I have not signed a new contract with the finance company and now I’m being told they will report my payments to the three credit bureaus (good because it’ll show I’m paying on time but bad because it lowers my debt ratio). Is it still legal/binding?
Best answer:
Answer by Julie T
No contracts become “null and void” if they change hands – but as I understand your question – you’re saying that you bought a car, and the dealer sold your contract to a finance company and they want you to sign a new contract? Under no circumstances are you required to “sign a new contract” unless of course its in your favor financially. All payments either to the car dealership or a finance company are reportable to credit bureaus. Even if the dealership went out of business – they can sell their contracts but the terms remain the same. You shouldn’t be worried about your “debt ratio” that’s crazy making. Try to arrange your next new car purchase as total cash – plus trade in – and forget finance companies and interest you can’t deduct on your income tax.

Question by r: Can I finance a computer if I have no credit score?
I’m 19 and I don’t have any credit cards/debit cards/etc. I only have an ATM card from my bank. And I’ve had a few jobs in the past and have had a steady job since October 2009. Would I be able to finance anything even though I don’t have an actual credit score?

Question by : Where could you employ a MEDIA PERSON with a Master in Finance?
Hi. I am doing an internship in Capital Markets which is a very specialized area and I am learning the basics. I studied Media before, Communications. These guys are telling me to work in a field of media where knowledge of finance is needed, or start bottom bottom at my age in a lousy job in Finance. Could anyone tell me in which enterprises could you need a person who has the creative and a bit of the financial world?

I have no idea personally, but have you contacted your alma mater for career services? Most colleges have a Career Services department that helps place graduates with jobs, they may also be able to point you in the right direction.
Also, have you kept in contact with any former professors? They can be a big help assuming you have a good relationship. Good luck with everything!
